Responsible for directing, casting, script evaluation, tour production

Created first sustainable, systematic structure for national touring in 30+ year history

 

Associate Producer – L.A. Theatre Works                                                                              2005 - 2008

Producer and director of nationally broadcast radio plays for National Public Radio

Director of first-ever national tour in 30 year history, traveled to over 20 cities

Proceeded to direct two additional national tours (over 60 cities in three years)

Oversight for season selection

Line-producer of ten-play season including:

  • Annual budgeting

  • Casting (over 40 productions for LA and nationally)

  • Hiring of artistic personnel

  • Producing and overseeing 7 national tours

Public Relations: Represented LATW in community (radio talk shows, public readings, etc.)

Education: spearheaded working with L.A. Museum of Natural History on adult & child outreach

Associate Artistic Director – The Old Globe Theatre, San Diego, CA                             1998 - 2005

Director of one to two main stage productions per year

Oversaw development of new plays from readings into full production

Assisted Artistic Director with season selection, designer selection

Line-produced newly-expanded season of 14 shows in three distinct spaces

Organized with Development Dept. first-ever multiple “date nights”, including pre-show drinks and talks by artists,

encouraging patrons under 40 to attend productions

Worked with Development Dept. on donor cultivation and significant “asks” and donations

Line-produced, cast (and directed in its 2nd year) world-premiere of How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Organized first-ever San Diego-wide “Casting Forums” and “Artistic Forums” including artistic and casting

representatives from all major theaters in city to gather and address issues and questions from community

Oversight of literary and casting departments including:

  • Annual budgeting

  • Casting for nearly 100 productions

  • Script evaluation

  • Maintained relationships with literary agents and managers

  • Personally initiated reading series for new play development, many of which subsequently produced

in following season

Participation in education outreach programs including:

  • Teaching various audition technique workshops and classical acting classes for adults

  • Teaching performance classes for children

 

Artistic Director – The Eclipse Theatre, Chicago, IL                                                              1996 - 1998

First A.D. in ten-year history to re-organize structure of company, including increased membership

and more aggressive fundraising

First A.D. to create model of rotating producers of productions from within company

Created yearly “gala” and “bowling ball” fundraisers

  • Annual budgeting with Managing Director

  • Casting (both within the Eclipse ensemble and outside of it)
